Just a quick rant to tell you that it is ok to forget shit in your art space! It's not personal to the things you’ve forgotten.
My paint palettes look like this. For months. Do I wash them out when I’m done with them? Fuck no. Is that good of me to do and possibly ruin my palettes? Yup, but I still forget anyhow.
I even use them again with all that gross dried paint on it. Nah, it’s fine. I don’t mind the crunchy textures my paintbrush picks up! I don’t even mind the colors it mixes when I add new paint on it. It isn’t that serious.
So, if you are in the same life raft as me floating in the Paint Palette Sea, don’t worry. We will be fine.
I know that I need to clean them. I know I need to maintain a clean space for me to create, sure. I KNOW that I need to be better at not neglecting the palettes that help me with my work! I KNOW ALL OF THIS.
But, am I worried about it? Nah. It’s not that I don’t care. Because I do care. I paid money for that shit. It’s just that I don’t care that much about it. I don’t mind them being like this. I really don’t.
I think they are pretty to look at. I see shapes in them, I see different color combos that I want to use in the future, I see their potential. I see them as they are and I get inspired sometimes by them.
So, please don’t get yourself down if you neglect something in your art space. Unless, it’s a living thing, then please go tend to that. But if it’s your palettes or sketchbooks or paintbrushes? Just know that everyone else in their art space is most likely in the same raft.
And if they’re not, and they are on some lovely clean palette yacht, well, that’s good, too. I don’t mind floating…
