Another rant on sketchbooks? Sort of. This is a substack about art stuff.
I just want to preach about the importance of mark making and creating. Even if you think you aren’t an artist, you can still create and get creative. Whether it is writing in your journal, or doodling in a notebook from the dollar store, being creative is a soul filling thing - regardless of your creative outlet.
Like I have ranted on before, use what you have to create. In this case, I created an accordion sketchbook. You can purchase one as well, if you didn’t want to make one.The amount of freedom that comes with creating in an accordion sketchbook is so much fun!
In this type of sketchbook, you aren’t limited to just one page in a book form like a regular sketchbook. You can stretch it out and create on the stretched book itself on more than one page.
The amount of creative freedom you get from an accordion sketchbook is sublime.
The rules of a booklet form do not apply to this. But, just like in any sketchbook, there is no rules in what you use them for.
What I want you to take away from this rant is that when you are stuck, just try something out of the ordinary. It’s fun. It’s reckless. It’s risky. AND IT’S OK.
