Whatchu know about bits and shits? There is a difference of being a hoarder of art supplies, and using what you got until it is all used up! I believe I am both. Judge me how you want, we all have our vice. No regrets, betches.
After decades of accumulating art supplies, I’ve come to the point where my prized art supplies are the little bits and shits that have helped me paint and illustrate hundreds of artworks! Yup. I do love me some new goodies but my reliable bits and shits have been there for me when I needed them.
There is also a gratifying sense of accomplishment when you finally get through the supplies - almost like finishing a task! It’s almost as if my baby art supplies grew up and are now graduating college! I’m so proud of them.
The point I am making here is that you can make the best works with almost the little remnants of your supplies. Or at least the best works according to you. Use up your little bits of cheapie oil pastels! Use up your dying markers and make some wispy creatures! Use up the paper you have and make your own sketchbooks or collage!
And while on this rant, create and make whatever ya want! Who cares what folks say about it. I sure fuckin don’t and some people are reading this right now so… and people like my shit. AND IF PEOPLE LIKE MY STUFF, THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT WILL LIKE YOUR STUFF. Periodt!
Rant over. For now.
Also, look what my little bits created. She’s got style and grace. She’s serving face. Bam.
The other thing is that new art supplies sometimes feel too "precious" to use, but I never feel that way about the little used up stump of a thing.
